XENADRINE is a weight loss drug that is beginning to gain a foothold among weight loss supplements where it has been present for years.
Its permanent presence online and in supermarkets has meant that we have all, at one time or another, seen its advertisement somewhere online or in the media.
After all these years, it’s time to test Xenadrine and see if it persists on the market because it really works for weight loss or if it’s just a pill like all the others that populate the supermarket shelves.
ADVANTAGES :
- Some interesting ingredients.
CONS:
- No indication of the exact quantities of the ingredients;
- No full details of the producing company on the website;
- Suspicious testimony;
- Shocking history.
Test Xenadrine
Let’s start with the website, where we find 4 variants of the product.
Let’s see what each formula claims to be able to do for you and if these products actually deliver on their promises.
The different Xenadrine products are:
1. XENADRIN:
It is the main product marketed under the Xenadrine label.
This supplement is marketed under the formula “Maximum Energy!” Dramatic Weight Loss” and the manufacturer claims it contains “powerful weight loss ingredients, thanks to new Xenadrine”.
We found this description unfounded. Why ?
Because here is the list of its magic ingredients:
Does this composition mean anything to you?
It’s the exact same composition found in Hydroxycut, another slimming pill we reviewed during one of our previous reviews here.
We will come back to this point later, because it seems that there is something in common between these two weight loss supplements!
There is no solid scientific evidence on the effect of Xenadrine.
The energizing effect is mainly related to the presence of caffeine.
2. XENADRINE INSTANT DRINK MIX:
The formula of this other product does not seem to differ from the standard formula (alchemilla, extracts of wild olives, cumin and field mint), only the packaging of the product has changed, it is in the form of 21 sachets to dilute and drink.
However, there is no clear indication of the quantities of the exact composition, so these are only speculations on our part.
It is therefore difficult to verify whether the claims made by the manufacturer on its effectiveness are founded or not.
3. XENADRINE CAFFEINE FREE:
It’s the same standard Xenadrine formula, but without the caffeine.
Consequently, the energizing effect is no longer required in the case of this variant of the product.
As with the brand’s other products, there is no concrete evidence on the effect of this mixture, just claims on clinical evidence (which we could not find) that it causes you to lose weight.
4. XENADRINE XTREME:
As you can imagine, this formula is supposed to be the luxury pack. Moreover, the manufacturer has dedicated an exclusive website to it.
At first glance, Xenadrine Xtreme seems to be aimed more at athletes and people who practice bodybuilding.
The ingredients are different from other formulas.
This formula contains significantly more caffeine, 200mg green coffee extract, 150mg sage leaf, 100mg L-theanine, 56.3mg yohimbe and 50mg rhodiola root.
All the effects attributed to this formula are linked to caffeine, whose energizing effect no longer needs to be proven.
That’s pretty much all Xenadrine Xtreme can do for you: energy through high amounts of caffeine.
You might choose to have more coffee instead, the choice is yours!
What Xenadrine says bring you
The main Xenadrine products do not claim to help you lose weight just because they are not legally allowed to do so.
We explain to you: there is no proof of their slimming effect. All they can say is that certain ingredients in their products can help with weight loss.
These ingredients are the exact same ones found in Hydroxycut: lady’s mantle, wild olive extracts, cumin extracts and field mint extracts.
This mixture is based on a study that showed a possible relationship between the consumption of these ingredients combined and a possibility of moderate weight loss.
The study was conducted in Israel in 2010 as these herbs are used in traditional Islamic and Arab-Greek medicine.
(Source : Antaki Center for Herbal Medicine Ltd, Kfar Kana, 16930, Israel. Said O., Saad B., Fulder S., Khalil K., Kassis E. Evid Based Complement Alternat Med. 2011; 2011: 874538. doi: 10.1093/ecam/nen067. Epub 2011 Jul 16).
The exact composition of the mixture used for this study is:
1. ALCHEMILLA (60mg);
2. WILD OLIVES (50mg);
3. CUMIN (25mg);
4. FIELD MINT (20mg);
5. VITAMIN C (7mg);
6. CALCIUM (148mg);
Which would amount to 310mg per tablet.
During the study, subjects had to take one tablet before each meal 3 times a day for a total of 930mg per day.
Unfortunately, no product in the Xenadrine range appears to contain this proportion of active ingredients.
In our opinion, this is precisely why they do not want to reveal the exact composition of their supplement.
ALERT Xenadrine:
– Paid testimonials;
– No evidence;
– Manufacturers have already paid multi-million dollar fines to the FTC.
Side effects Xenadrine
As these are highly concentrated caffeine blends, side effects related to high caffeine consumption may be observed.
It should be remembered that previous versions of Xenadrine were completely banned from sale and withdrawn from the market following an intervention by the FDA.
Testimonials Xenadrine users
On the official website, one can find many testimonials from very suspicious users.
The testimonial photos even look like they’ve been edited to exaggerate the weight loss.
Mentioned in very small print under each testimonial, it says that these individuals were paid to take Xenadrine and to diet and exercise.
Does Xenadrine walk ?
We are left with a weight loss supplement with paid testimonials and little information about its exact composition.
It is therefore impossible to say whether it is effective or not.
However, our experience has taught us that if the manufacturer deliberately hides this kind of crucial information, the product is either unable to deliver on its promises or, even worse, is dangerous.
In this case, not even the manufacturer of Xenadrine dares to promise you that it will help you lose weight!
Historical Xenadrine
We’ve left the best for last, because Xenadrine’s history is quite tormented!
The original owners of Xenadrine were Nutriquest Inc.
When the FTC banned the sale of products in the line, it was acquired by Kerr Investment Holding Group, the current owner of the brand.
This product was marketed in 2005 for the first time. The FTC then decided to take legal action against the owners for false advertising and false claims in relation to the effect of its products.
As a result, the manufacturers were fined $25 million and banned from continuing to publicly claim that their product can make you lose weight.
The range was then bought by new owners who – supposedly – changed its formula to make it more effective.
We will discuss in a future article the equally tormented and shocking history of the new owners of Xenadrine.
To buy Xenadrine
Xenadrine is available over-the-counter online through its official website.
It is also available for sale in supermarkets.
Know all the same that a month of treatment costs about 67 euros!
Xenadrine: Our Verdict final
Even if Xenadrine is very well known throughout the world – in particular thanks to the aggressive advertising campaign launched and relaunched continuously by its manufacturers -, our investigation has shown us that it cannot be trusted.
There is nothing to indicate that it is actually effective for weight loss or that it can benefit you more than your usual cup of coffee.
The paid testimonials and the terrible history of its first owners and its current owners have finally convinced us that it cannot be recommended to our readers in any way.
